The goal of this podcast is to help motivate actors to keep moving forward, how to look on the bright side, and stay focused on their goals. With special guests to discuss how they have worked and what they have done to get where they are, Actors Anyonymous is made is made for the LA actor to inspire them to never give up.  Wesam Keesh “Actors Anonymous was created because I felt actors needed a resource to sustain and evolve not only their acting craft but also their business careers and personal lives. Living and working as an actor has showed me that many of my fellow artists waste away years of their lives in a state of negativity, disillusion, and unnecessary competitiveness. This needs to stop if we want to grow as artists, professionals and human beings. My goal is to create a fellowship between the true actors in this industry. We should support one another and have fun doing it. There is no competition. Health Bytes with Wendy McPhail: HEMORRHOIDS & YOU @WillRobertsUSA

Health Bytes with Wendy McPhail: HEMORRHOIDS & YOU @WillRobertsUSA

Today on Health Bytes with Wendy McPhail: HEMORRHOIDS & YOU   Hemorrhoids are veinous cushions around the anal opening which can be internal or external. Almost 50% of the Western population develops unhealthy hemorrhoids at some point in their lives, and in my profession I see the condition daily.   Symptoms can be – swelling, itchiness, bleeding, irritation and pain. It can make life very uncomfortable – traveling, driving – sitting anywhere becomes an issue. Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in the lower rectum and wall of the anus. It happens when there is too much pressure and this causes the small veins to swell and fill with blood. Straining during bowel movements from an improper diet and insufficient fiber can create a constant issue. Pregnancy for women can also cause this problem.   Hemorrhoids can be treated and prevented using natural remedies. What are a few things you could do to improve the situation?   THINK FIBER!   We have such a high incidence of hemorrhoids in the western hemisphere because of our refined food / fast food lifestyle. Changing the diet, exercising, drinking plenty of water and taking a serious look at stress levels can all make an impact on your well-being. Good fiber is my mantra to all my clients!   Fiber ends constipation, can stop hemorrhoids, firm up loose stools, absorb toxins in the gut – and even feed the good bacteria that need to proliferate within our ecosystems!   Raw and steamed vegetables should be a large part of your diet – staying away from the higher starch vegies like white potatoes and the high sugar fruits. Juicing greens is also helpful for good bowel movements and healing hemorrhoids.   You may supplement the above by adding a TBSP of Organic Psyllium Husk/Seed, 1 TSP Slippery Elm Bark powder, and 1 TBSP of Organic Coconut Oil all to a ½ cup of water in a jar with a lid – shake and drink immediately 2x a day.   1 TSP Magnesium in carbonate and/or citrate powder form – swished in some water 2x a day can also be very helpful.   WITCH HAZEL   Use Witch Hazel topically, in the form of a cream, liquid or compress. The leaves and bark of this plant have been used as a remedy for hemorrhoids since ancient times. It will help to shrink the swelling of the hemorrhoid, reduce the bleeding, and relieve the pain and itchiness. You can buy pads pre-soaked with Witch Hazel, or apply pure Witch Hazel yourself to the affected area, using a cotton ball. Aloe Vera gel could be to this if you desire.   A warm bath is soothing – add witch hazel to the water and soak until the discomfort has ceased. Witch Hazel is a versatile herb that is used topically for various conditions.   STONE ROOT WITCH HAZEL SUPPLEMENT   This can be found in capsules or in tincture (liquid) form. The capsules by Eclectic Institute contain concentrates of Stone Root, Witch Hazel, Bilberry and Gotu Kola. Tincture forms of Stone Root Witch Hazel are also available. These can be found online.   BUTCHER’S BROOM HERB   Despite the bloody sounding name, butcher’s broom tightens and strengthens the veins and acts as a vasoconstrictor that narrows the blood...

And when this very unfortunate epiphany occurs it is you, the actor, who must suffer the consequences. Whether for a show, a commercial or an audition, it is likely that you might have to learn a dialect (or fifty) to stay competitive in the acting biz. Here are some quick and dirty tips to get you started. Figure Out What Kind of Learner You Are There are many ways to learn a dialect. Some people prefer to mark their scripts with phonetic substitutions, while others learn by ear, or some combination of these and other methods. The first step is to figure out which way helps you learn the fastest. Don’t waste your time trying to do it the “right” way. Whatever gets it in your body is right. For example, I have learned that hearing a demonstration first and mimicking the dialect before ever touching my lines saves me lots of time and frustration. This surprised me because I am usually much more of a visual learner, but when it comes to accents, I need the aural cues first. What Are “Substitutions?” Substitutions are the changes in vowel and consonant sounds when translating one dialect to another. If you have ever taken a voice class you may have had an introduction to...

This week with  Will Roberts on ActingUpRadio.com   : Will talks to  Jimmy Sinay & Wid Bastian and they Want to take you back to the Las Vegas of yesterday? and the book: When It Was GREAT!  We’ll talk to them about: The history of entertainment and your future in it! This weeks guest on ActingUpRadio.com Jimmy Sinay & Wid Bastian Want to take you back to the Las Vegas of yesterday? Meet John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Redd Foxx, Debbie Reynolds, Louis Prima and other celebrities. In 1968, Jim Sinay packed up his green Caddy convertible and drove from Canton, Ohio to Las Vegas. His “Uncle” Ed Pucci, who was Frank Sinatra’s bodyguard and a close family friend, set him up with an entry level dealer’s job in Vegas. Over the next three decades, Jimmy experienced all Las Vegas had to offer. He dealt craps to famous gangsters in a private game, he interacted with John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Redd Foxx, Debbie Reynolds, Louis Prima and other celebrities. Jimmy was a confirmed bachelor who lived the high life with the ladies, although at times his carousing nearly cost him his life. He saw hundreds of thousands of dollars bet on one roll of the dice, he caught gambling cheaters and had run ins with some very nasty types. ˃˃˃ Folktales from a bygone era Jimmy’s stories are folktales from a bygone era, the 1960s, 70s and 80s when Vegas was still a relatively small town. Back in the day, the “joints” were ruled by men whose names all ended in vowels and there was a good time to be had 24/7. When It Was Great will make you laugh and touch your heart, but most of all it will take you back to the Las Vegas of yesterday, when the Rat Pack played at the Sands, Elvis headlined at the Hilton and working stiffs like Jimmy partied like there was no tomorrow.   ______________ Right Actor, Right Job! – Brought to you by CastItTalent.com with Rachel Frawley is an actor living in Atlanta. When it comes to acting, think outside the box! @CastItTalent @WillRobertsUSA

When it comes to acting, think outside the box! @CastItTalent @WillRobertsUSA

When it comes to acting, think outside the box! BY Joanna Colbert There are plenty of acting schools, coaches and workshops out there that emphasize how to “brand” yourself as an actor.  There’s no shortage of people (agents, managers, Casting Directors, etc)  ready to put you in a box or label you, which is not necessarily the wrong approach but it can be limiting and I think it’s more important for actors to empower themselves by knowing who they are in the marketplace while still dreaming big! Sure, if you are in your twenties, you are probably not going to be cast as Lady Macbeth or Henry the IV or as Meryl Streep’s sister or Morgan Freeman’s best friend and the business is certainly full of people who will only see you as your “category”, not unlike the old studio system where the contract players were labeled as “femme fatale” or “swashbuckler” and were limited to playing certain roles. So how can an actor be realistic about their career while still holding onto their big dream and not feeling limited by their “brand”? In my workshops I ask actors to make a list of movies and television shows in which they can see themselves being cast. This exercise allows the actor to be aware of what is out there (in the marketplace) and become clear about where they fit in. …. READ THE REST OF THE STORY Joanna Colbert began her career as a casting director in association with Juliet Taylor on Interview with a Vampire for which she conducted a nationwide search resulting in the discovery of Kirsten Dunst. Colbert then went on to work at Universal Pictures as the Manager of Casting and then Senior Vice President of Casting, overseeing such blockbusters as The Mummy series, American Pie, Meet the Parents, and Bruce Almighty. She formed Joanna Colbert Casting in 2001 and Colbert/Mento Casting in 2006. Her credits include: No Strings Attached, the Step-Up series, Cedar Rapids, The Mummy, Everything Must Go, Hollywoodland and The Good Girl. Colbert is currently producing several projects, including a documentary about casting and its influence on film titled Casting By, a feature film titled Atticus Run, The Black Version tv series and Kate McClafferty’s blog, 356 til...
